Race 8
  Stormy Surge
Sir Al (IRE)
Lockford
STORMY SURGE is a solid fit at this level. He has already won at this condition twice on the local lawn, loves the local course, retains the leading rider, and has the right style for the race. He’s going to take a lot of beating in this spot and though the price won’t be all that attractive, he will probably vie for favoritism with his next competitor who is coming out of graded stakes races. “Surge” is 8/5 on our line and anything over that at post time becomes a solid play. SIR AL could go off as the favorite in this race off the company he has kept lately. The Hollywood Derby had the best 3 year old grass horses on the West Coast and he was only beaten 7 lengths, so he really didn’t disgrace himself. His 2nd place finish at Hawthorne was on a “soft” course which should be very similar to the one he’ll race on Saturday. Julio Garcia is a good turf rider and Al is going to be rolling in the lane. He is our second choice at 2/1. LOCKFORD has been hooking some tough Allowance hombres down South and he figures for a piece of the action in this spot. He has the right style for the race and Hollendorfer wouldn’t have him in here if he didn’t think he fit the conditions. Lockford is a contender and we made him 4/1 on our line. He is a play at anything in that area at post time.

Race 5
  High Standards
Searchforthetruth
Scat Thief
High Standards is the speed of the race in a race with very little speed. And although he’s never won over this course, he is stakes placed in his only try. With the hot riding Joe Talamo in the saddle, he can wire this field at a nice mutual. “Standards” is our selection and is a solid play at 9/2 or better which you should certainly get.

Race 3
  Supersecretdevice
Nymegen Pita
Mr. Rancho Vista
Supersecretdevice is our selection. He was just recently reclaimed by the Jenda barn and that is a good thing. He was much closer to the pace in his last start because of the slow pace, but still finished well for 9 furlongs. There is sufficient pace for him to run at today and he will return to his preferred style of running. Anything at 8/5 or better and he is a play, and with a 7/2 morning line, the price should be square. A 3/7 exacta box would yield a very nice return in this race.

Race 8
  Haimish Hy
Sourdough Sam
Our Minesweeper
Haimish Hy is our selection in this race and the odds should be inviting with at least 5/1. His style fits this race perfectly, Alvarado is 2 for 2 on him, and the leading trainer at the meet hasn’t been making any mistakes lately. Although he is pretty light on numbers, this son of Ecton Park is improving and should be awfully tough to hold coming down the lane. Anything at 7/2 or better at post time, and he gets our money.

Race 1
  Defensive Move
Punch Up
East Indian
The first race at the on Saturday only has 6 starters but nonetheless, it is a very contentious race with 5 of the 6 having a legitimate chance of having their picture taken. There is enough speed in the lineup to set it up for something off the pace, but I think this race will be won ON the pace as these speed horses just don’t back up very much in the lane.

Race 8
  Dangerous Devil
Tropical Heat
I Am Thor
If the field stays intact, there appears to be plenty of speed in the lineup to assist those coming from off the pace. But there are at least 4-5 candidates who can get the money in that group and it may very well set up for the one that gets the right trip and can stay out of trouble.

Race 8
  Sourdough Sam
Tango Tango
Seven Torrents
Sourdough Sam has been awfully impressive in both starts to the post and will probably be the second or third betting choice in the race. Pederson always places his horses where they belong and Inoel Beato could be the next Joel Rosario, as he is vastly underrated. He is our selection in the race and can be played at 8/5 or better. He just needs a clean trip to get the money.
