Race Selections Analysis

HOL
Dec-11
Race 9
  Turbulent Descent
May Day Rose
Zazu
TURBULENT DESCENT (2-1) has looked like awesome in winning her first two starts with consummate ease. If she handles the two-turn distance and tougher competition, she is the obvious one to beat in this year's Starlet.

HOL
Dec-04
Race 8
  Aggie Engineer
Dakota Phone
Soul Candy
AGGIE ENGINEER (5-2) is sharp and catches a field with no early pace, so he should be able to take these wire-to-wire despite perhaps not really wanting to run nine furlongs. He'll never get a better chance to win a graded stakes.

HOL
Nov-20
Race 8
  Premier Pegasus
Industry Leader
High Level Jeff
PREMIER PEGASUS (5-2) is two-for-two and looks like the speed of the field. He should handle the extra furlong and prove very hard to catch for low-profile connections.

HOL
Nov-13
Race 8
  Temple City
Where's the Remote
Treat Gently (GB)
In a very wide-open turf marathon event, I will give the edge to TEMPLE CITY (4-1). The Gaines-trained horse tossed in a clunker at Hawthorne but is capable of much better and likes the HP turf course. Give him the edge in a very tight call.

HOL
Oct-23
Race 8
  Awesome Patriot
McKenzies Way
Celestic Night
Not the strongest field in the world but debut winner AWESOME PATRIOT (5-2) acts like he might be okay. Although the Baffert-trained colt got to walk on the lead when breaking his maiden here two weeks ago, Awesome Again colt likely has the most upside in the lineup.

HOL
Oct-16
Race 8
  Kid Edward (Ire)
Haimish Hy
Jairzihno (GB)
This year's Oak Tree Derby is absolutely wide open, with any of the eight entrants capable of winning. I will give the edge to KID EDWARD (3-1), who didn't fire his best shot in the Del Mar Derby but may rebound with a top effort in this spot.

HOL
Oct-02
Race 6
  J P's Gusto
Jaycito
Acaffella
If J P's GUSTO (7-5) can handle the two-turn distance, he is the obvious one to beat in here. A winner of his last four, including the Del Mar Futurity last time, 'GUSTO is the speed of the field and acts like he will handle the route game.

DMR
Sep-04
Race 8
  Wickedly Perfect
A Z Warrior
Avid
Good, competitive field for this year's Debutante in which I will give the slight edge to morning line favorite WICKEDLY PERFECT (3-1). She's unbeaten in two starts and showed real gameness in taking the Sorrento earlier in the meet.

DMR
Aug-28
Race 8
  The Usual Q. T.
Temple City
Richard's Kid
In my opinion, there is little doubt about who is the most talented horse in the race. If THE USUAL Q. T. handles the Del Mar Polytrack better than he did the Pro-Ride surface at Santa Anita, he beats this field. I loved his win in the grassy Eddie Read and he figures to get an ideal trip sitting right behind the speed.

DMR
Aug-21
Race 9
  Evening Jewel
Harmonious
Antares World
In a very good running of the Del Mar Oaks, the edge goes to morning line favorite EVENING JEWEL (5-2). She lays her body down every time and might get a very comfortable pace scenario in this nine-furlong grass event.
