Turfway Park Race 10 Saturday January 16
|
Updated: Jan-15-2010 Created: Jan-14-2010
Usually I drool over these races at 6.5 furlongs since I know which sires produce winners at this distance well above the average. Of course the distance is just one variable but giving preference to those bred to win at the distance has treated me well. My top pick is Henry's Posse whose sire is Posse who gets 18% of his 'dirt' winners at 6.5 to 7 furlongs while the average is 16%. This race is for young 3 year olds and until May 1st I keep them in my young category. I have a maturity factor which compares the number of non-maiden winners produced at a young age compared to the number of maiden winners. Both the sire and broodmare sire for Cactus Cadillac are well above average for getting young horses to win after they break their maiden. Helen Belen is 2 for 2 and both came at 6.5 furlongs and needs to be considered. www.breedingwinners.com is the place for the most comprehensive sire stats.
Andy Schnell is the owner of Breeding Winners, the site with the most comprehensive sire stats.
