The Wishing Well Stakes is at 6 furlongs for fillies and mares, four-year-olds and upward, with a purse of $50,000. The distance does not appear to be a problem for any of the entrants based on their breeding as each of their sires have produced a reasonable percentage of winners, on dirt (or synthetic), at 6 furlongs. When looking at previous winners on 'dirt', for each sire and broodmare sire, and what percentage of those winners came when the purse was greater than $40,000, five of the entrants have low percentages (Firey Glow, Candy Cane, Ruffaroundtheedges, Bold Venue and Mindy Queen). I am willing to take a stand against those five as contenders for the win. PROUD HEIRESS is who I like most since she is running on 41 days rest and both her sire and broodmare sire are above average for getting winners on 37 to 60 days rest and she shows a previous win (8/14/09) when going on 46 days rest. MOHEGAN SKY is making only her second career start on 'dirt' and it is difficult to read how she will perform. Demand decent odds (at least 4-1). SCHOOL GIRL just missed in a similar race in her last. SHE'S EXTREME was just a half length behind School Girl in her last race.
