I see this feature race as very similar in nature to a race for two-year-olds. As I said last week, this type of race is characterized by experimentation. You have a field of just-tuned three-year-olds, 60% of whom have one win...and of this group, only 2 competed at today's purse level. Reminds me of a screwy starter allowance race.
So for me, I want some value (as usual) but I'm not expecting large prices. I'd like to be WRONG about that!
While the pace setup in this race looks relatively neutral to me, FISH and Z.I.ZIPP could hook up, and possibly be joined by COOSADA and SCIARPA ROSSO. ANY type of hook will set things up nicely for the defined winning running style of LUCKY CHUCK, whose training/racing regimen is outstanding.
SUCCESSFUL SCORE showed a touch of class winning for the same purse at today's race in a madien race at Saratoga, and may well have been overmatched and at an unwelcome distance in races before the last, which shows an improving race. 50% in the money for only 6 races ain't bad, either!
ROCKIN' ROCKSTAR is a bit of a mystery at a price. What magic caused the super improvement in its last race? Love the track and racing surface? A weak bu ofnch of competitors? A natural wake-up call? An UNnatural wake-up call? Whatever, at a ML of 10-1, the gimmicks will be great if this horse hits the board at odds above random chance, which it should have.
