The 10th race from Calder on September 19th is an optional claiming six furlong sprint for three-year-olds and up. 38% wire jobs at this distance as winning profile favors early/pressing types. Inside three posts best. The advanced weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms.
#2 My Daddio (5-1) rallied for the place in the slop on July 26th, and barn is 21% with this type of layoff runner. Typically shows tracking speed and attracts hot apprentice Luis Saez.
#5 Casino Gambler (3-1) was popular at the claim box in June and July. Has won twice at this distance and was claimed for this $16k tag. Could sit right stalk and pounce trip.
#8 Dignified Essence (5-2) experienced a troubled beginning versus much better last time. Earned triple digit speed rating in romping 5f win on Aug 22nd. Obvious prominent throughout threat.
#1 Rusty Charlie (6-1) does his best work at this course and distance. Looms the inside speed and runs for the $16k tag. Faltered at 6.5f last out.
#9 Chihulykee (8-1) could get hung out wide chasing the pace. Has been competitive versus a few of these this year, and a minor award is not impossible.
#6 Prince of Song (10-1) steps up to face tougher following two lifetime turf sprint tally. Owns early-pressing speed for profitable connections but is a minor player at best.
#3 Little Richie (12-1) goes turf to dirt and will probably prompt the pace in this spot. He is one of five up for sale and gets in light with apprentice Abel Lezcano.
#7 Grand Central (10-1) bolted in latest local start, and he was up the track in his two previous outings as well. Two big efforts this year were both at seven furlongs. Likely pace casualty.
#4 Lighten Up (15-1) has struggled in 6 of his last 7 starts. Both wins were on synthetic and turf, and he seems up against it today.
The Plays: #2 to win, Exacta 2/5-8, Exacta 5-8/2
