The 8th race from Calder on September 12th is an optional claiming turf route for three-year-olds and up. Only 6% wire jobs at this distance as winning profile favors stalkers from middle to outer posts. The advanced weather forecast calls for a 60% chances of scattered thunderstorms.
#7 Cenzontle (4-1) likes the local weeds and will be finishing for new barn. Attracts recently hot jock Javier Santiago.
#8 Pickapocket (3-1) returns for the 36% Garcia/Wolfson team, and barn is 24% with this type of layoff runner. Versatile sort sports a local bullet for this.
#2 Baron Von Tap (5-2) was entered and scratched from a similar spot last week. Should sit a nice ground saving trip behind the inside speedster. Braddy 30% with new additions to his barn.
#9 Holiday Blake (6-1) goes for the four-bagger on the surface switch. Sharp gelding has landed the place in a pair of local turf starts. Contender on either surface but would be especially tough on a wet main track.
#5 Cristobal (8-1) has not won in quite some time, and he needed his US bow on the main. 4-time turf winner should move up for Marty Wolfson.
#6 Doctor Cal (10-1) has not been seen in almost a year, and he scratched out of similar off the turf spot last week. Fired in 5 of 7 turf starts but might need the race.
#3 Imawildandcrazyguy (12-1) has hit the board in both local turf starts. He is better on the main but can rally for a share on any footing.
#4 Colonial Causeway (12-1) has been going well over wet tracks recently, so he would not mind if the rains hit again. Note that he has failed to crack the top three in a trio of turf outings.
#1 Pechito (15-1) failed in lone turf try in Argentina. Winless in six starts since arriving in the US. Inside pace factor under profitable apprentice rider Luis Saez.
#10 Hal's My Hope (6-1) is entered for main track only. Pace factor on the dirt has not won in quite some time. I suggest using underneath if this race is transferred.
The Plays: #7 to win, Exacta box 7-8, Trifecta 7-8/2-7-8-9/2-3-5-7-8-9
