Harry Benson sends out Singing Rock, the grandson of the Danzig. He comes off of a very sharp effort on July 17, 2009. In that race Javier Santiago may have gotten a little too aggressive out of the 9 hole and didn’t leave enough for the real race - the stretch.

Today Singing Rock gets the services of a top Florida jockey in Manuel Cruz. Cruz and Benson have a 25% win rate together with a whopping $2.28 positive ROI when they team up.  

My second choice is Masterofballydoyle absolutely bred for the turf and the distance. His 372 Tomlinson rating suggests the distance should be no problem. He ran his heart out in his last race missing by a diminishing head at 9.50-1 odds. This trainer/jockey combination boasts a powerful 24% win rate at Calder with an eye-popping $2.50 ROI. Watch the toteboard – if the odds are over 8-1 get on the bandwagon!

My third choice is Boris Bay. He comes out of a key race with Singing Rock and should benefit going from the death spot on the turf, the rail, to the 8 post. Expect bigger odds today and a bigger effort. I expect him in the money at the very least.

And finally, I like Hold My Calls. Javier Santiago may have had his choice this race between Hold My Calls and Singing Rock. He’s on Hold My Calls. This horse has been running very well and the turf should not be a problem at all. Note Henry Collazo is an ice cold 0-20 with first time turf runners – which is why I only picked him 4^th.
