Has top trainer / jockey combination and should be able to handle this field without too much effort assuming trainer has him ready to roll. Went off the favorite last race in 100K Stake at Gulfstream Park run in fractions of 21.4, 44.3, 56.2, and 1.08.2. Has earned a solid 2.55 Trackpro Value Rating (TPV).
#6 TOULOUSE LAUTREC 4-1 Another 4 year old colt with good trainer / jockey combination. This colt has won two of his last three starts and the comment line states "speed to spare" after running fractions of 21.3, 45.0, 57.1, and 1.10 breaking maiden 3rd race back at Philadelphia Park. A long layoff combined with this colt shipping into Aqueduct for this race should boost the price considerably by post time. The TPV rating at 1.69 indicates very good wagering value overall on this one.
#2 VICIOUS RAPIDS - 15-1 Breaks from inside post at 15-1 on the morning line and shows three (3) consecutive bullet works since losing as favorite twice in last three starts. Offers some value with TPV rating at 1.11. This 5 year old gelding can definitely run with the pace at this level and we think the odds are generous. Could put the exotic payoffs into triple digits with a little more improvement and effort.
#5 ELUSIVE GIFT 5/2 5 year old gelding has competitive credentials. Has won twice at Aqueduct so he obviously loves the track. We take note of the triple digit speed figure in strong allowance field 2nd race back. Would not be surprised to see this gelding go off the favorite for top trainer Anthony Dutrow but does not seem to offer much wagering value in our opinion.
