Post-Race Analysis
Cutting back in distance and in company, graded stakes winner Evita Argentina added the seven furlong Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park on Sunday to her resume. Eleven fillies went to the gate with the previously undefeated Mi Chiamano Mimi favored, but that filly could not hold off the winner's charge down the stretch after setting the pace, and Mi Chiamano Mimi had to settle for second with Palacio de Amor running third.
John Sadler, who has been having a remarkable year, conditions Evita Argentina for owners Halo Farms and Three Sisters Thoroughbreds. Evita Argentina was exiting a disappointing run in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and scored the victory, worth $100,000 total purse, under jockey Tyler Baze. A daughter of the sensational racehorse Candy Ride (Arg), Evita Argentina now has a record of three wins in five starts, and paid $14.80 to win.
Pre-Race Analysis
Mi Chiamano Mimi is the 5/2 favorite for Sunday’s Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park. The seven furlong race run over the all weather surface is worth $100,000. Mi Chiamano Mimi is undefeated in two starts, including the six furlong Anoakia Stakes last out at Santa Anita, where the daughter of Came Home won by 1 1/4 lengths for trainer Mike Mitchell.
Casino Gold is 10 – 1 on the morning line but could be worth a look. Fourth in the Anoakia, the Bob Baffert-trainee won a maiden race on September 27 and has sharp CASE numbers, including a 107 for Aerobic Efficiency and a high 89 overall average. Casino Gold’s stablemate, Wynning Ride, is running for Baffert for the first time after being transferred from trainer Ron McAnally. Wynning Ride won her debut on October 10th going 6 1/2 furlongs, and earned a very high 101 Endurance rating for that effort.
Palacio de Amor has a huge shot in the race after cutting back in distance and getting away from division leader Stardom Bound. Palacio de Amor finished second behind that rival twice before finishing thirteenth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and has earned $133,000. Myung Kwon Cho trains the Dixieland Band filly.
John Sadler send out Evita Argentina who is also exiting the Juvenile Fillies. The Candy Ride (Arg) filly has also earned $133,000 by winning the Sorrento Stakes (Gr. III) at Del Mar and finishing fourth in the Del Mar Debutante (gr. 1). Although it appears the filly will improve with the cut back in distance, Evita Argentina earned a 103 Endurance rating in her debut over five furlongs.
Pasar Silbano (Ire) just arrived from Ireland and will race under jockey Mike Smith, who won Hollywood’s Audrey Skirball-Kenis Stakes on Saturday. Pasar Silbano won four of six starts in Ireland sprinting and is a listed stakes winner with earnings of $191,000.
Moontune Missy starts from the outside post for sharp trainer Eoin Harty. On October 23th at Oak Tree, Moontune Missy, a Forest Wildcat filly, won a maiden race going 5 1/2 furlongs earning an 89 Beyer Speed Figure and an 81 CASE rating for Coordination. Aaron Gryder will ride.
The beautifully bred Montana Fields, Presque Isle Downs shipper Wind Caper, stakes placed Malusita, and Broken Vow filly Will O Way complete the lineup.
