Another nice day of weather in the forecast for Belmont racing. Going to take an extra glance at Race #5. New York bred turf sprint for three year olds and up. ZIP QUIK is a horse that Toby Turrell had a high opinion of as a two year old when he was being unveiled for the first time in California. Colt ran some big races before having some physical issues derail his bid to become one of the top two year olds of that year. Turf sprinting feels like the perfect niche for this athletic colt. Winning off the huge layoff at Gulfstream in March shows that this colt has not lost any of that ability he showed as a two year old. I see his two main competitors as COMPLIANCE OFFICER and DRIVEN BY SOLAR. TRIP NOTES from yesterday: Took a tough beat to start the pick 6 yesterday when COLOSSAL GIFT ran too good to lose but had to settle for second after giving the favorite CLEAR ATTEMPT a big head start at the top of the lane. Take a look at the final quarter mile that race was run in. COLOSSAL closed into those fractions.
