Scenic Blast in the BING!

SCENIC BLAST returns to the scene in the toughest spot possible and I love it. The reason I love it, is because it should guarantee a fair price. Two of the best sprinters we have on the West Coast are entered in the Bing Crosby. Cost of Freedom and EZ's Gentleman. Scenic will have to run both of those horses down. That is no small task. Here is what I think needs to happen in order for Scenic to have a chance at the upset.

1. He needs to handle the track. Because he did not get to drill over the surface there is a question on whether or not this turfer will handle the Poly. I don't see why he would not handle it. Either way, we should get a price to find out.

2. Smiling Tiger has to get super aggressive out of the gate. He is the only colt that might have a chance at putting some pressure on the speedy beast Cost of Freedom. Cost of Freedom out on a comfortable lead most likely spells doom for every horse in here. Especially a dead closer like Scenic.

From a betting standpoint I want a minimum of 6-1. There are a few too many question marks in my mind to accept anything less. Do I think he is talented enough to beat this group. Absolutely. This is not a stab. But as discussed in the two arguments above, I do have some concerns. Concerns mean I must be picky on price.

Another video note runner to add to your stable list.

1. PLEASING SUNRISE - The little two year old filly from the Mike Puype barn made her debut on Saturday. In her series of drills at Hollywood Park I pegged her as an absolute gamer. In other words, I think she wants to race. Unfortunately, her debut trip was a nightmare. Far too early to turn the page on her. Gutty little girl could offer a nice gambling play down the line.
