CAPITAL ACCOUNT - He showed up in a big way for his debut. The annoying part of the game is that we were getting 4-1 as the field was entering the gate. Then the unfortunate and scary incident with the over-bet favorite Gallatin's Run happened. I'm happy to say Gallatin came out of that with minor cuts and has already been back to the track. I'm unhappy to say that I had to cancel my win wager after the late scratch because Capital immediately went down to 9/5. He will be an interesting horse to follow this summer. My guess is that he will prove more valuable as a play against in his next race. Performances like the one he just put in will be over hyped. SCENIC BLAST - Turned in a perfect prep on Sunday when finishing a very good fourth. If he comes out of the race the right way he could prove to be a great gamble this summer. There is no reason he should not stretch-out successfully. Our unnamed Lenny Powell runner turned in a drill with maiden claiming filly Madam Noir (ran once). He made up a couple lengths on work-mate without being asked. It was a leisurely tempo move. Powell has every reason to take it slow and easy with this immature colt. He is giving clear signs of a runner that is going to want a distance of ground for his best. Would not rule out grass as an eventual option. The Richard Mandella three year old filly Irlandesa Diva continues to make a positive impression. She again worked with her buddy Separate Forest. The duo went an easy half mile. There is a controlled aggressiveness to her morning game thus far. She has been into the bit at the wire. This gives the rider clear signals that she could do a lot more. But she is not overly manic to the point of being unruly or rank. Good things. A touch of class evident. Yankee Station turned in a half mile jog from the gate. Rider never asked him to pick up the bit. Have to think he is getting close to a race.
