I picked out five horses from this past Sunday's work tab that impressed. From this point till the end of the year I will develop an active diary on each horse. Notes from morning gallops, workouts, distance/surface preference, personality and so on. The main objective is to develop a strong foundation of information to consult, so that when the horse enters his/her next race I can offer a transparent opinion on what kind of gambling opportunity the horse will offer. So here it goes. 1. Unnamed Lenny Powell runner. Two year old colt by Momentum. Out of Grace of Windsor. Turned in a three furlong drill with older winner El Adelantado. 'Adelantado is a low level runner that has always been a good morning worker. So the fact this baby handled his business with such ease in this team drill was note worthy. 2. Capital Account. Three year old colt from the Bob Baffert barn. This guy has been beating up on work-mate's consistently over the Hollywood Park cushion. His most recent move was from the blocks where he handled winner Seriously while logging a 22.80 final quarter. Has been wearing blinkers throughout the series. I could not find a race from him, so I am under the assumption he has never raced. Expecting him to come out running in debut. 3. Irlandesa Diva. Three year old filly from the Richard Mandella barn. Worked from the blocks with another 3 year old filly Separate Forest. Loved the aggressive energy this girl worked with. Rider had her under a hammerlock hold every step. Another runner that I believe has yet to race. Definitely on my radar. 4. Scenic Blast (Aus). Six year old gelding from the John Shirreffs barn. Clocker's dream because of how easy he is to identify in the mornings. Big cow face with four socks. Another good reason to like him thus far is the rather significant stride he has shown working in company during the a.m. Clearly a horse with loads of ability. Will be interesting to see what his overseas form looks like. 5. Yankee Station. Five year old gelding from the John Shirreffs barn. I fell in love with this guy prior to his debut. I thought he was a monster. He has won a couple of races but a monster he did not prove to be. He is returning with the same morning flash as before. Really hoping he has matured to the point where he will transfer his a.m. style to the afternoon.
