Amazingly enough the 5th largest Derby crowd witnessed a stirring 136th running of the Kentucky Derby and showed up despite an ominous weather forecast to be rewarded by the sun shining brite on them by post time. This on top of yesterdays record attendance for the Oaks offers the world proof that racing is still alive and can prosper through even the toughest times. Super Saver wins by 2 lengths over Icebox who ran a phenomenal race charging home boldly after a ton of trouble the last 3 furlongs of the race. Todd Pletcher gets his long awaited 1st Derby and Calvin Borel moves up a few pegs in the history books. Bill Casner and all the group at Winstar get the Roses as the winning owners and breeders of this year’s champ. Huge weekend climaxed in a way that leaves all of us who love this sport proof that all we need is leadership to see racing elevated to great heights. I am hearing nothing but big numbers reported from some of the sports key venues as well. I would love to keep writing for ya'll but I am going to have to save any further thoughts til Monday as it is time to let down and relax. There is a million dollar pick six carryover at Churchill for Wednesday and a strong Sunday card at Hollywood Park tomorrow to end the week. Special thanks to all who made our Derby Day Case Radio Show a blockbuster---our goal is to keep on top of the pulse of the greatest game ever and try to make each day a winning one on the air. We are on our way!!!!!!!!!
