Saturday's featured 10th race at Churchill Downs will be the Grade III $100,000 Mint Julep Handicap for older fillies and mares racing a distance of 1 mile and a 1/16 over the turf course. With lifetime earnings of over 1 million dollars, the morning line favorite is the rail horse Pure Clan. The daughter Of Pure Prize out of the General Assembly mare Gather the Clan had a troubled trip in The Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Santa Anita last October, but has been training superbly for her return and won her only previous start over this course, having captured the Grade III Regret Stakes last summer. Shaun Bridgmohan takes the riding assignment for veteran conditioner Bob Holthus. Another one in the field that has won her only start at Churchill drew the outside post, but is going for her 5th consecutive victory, and that's the Darley Stable's Tizaqueena. The daughter of the multiple stakes winner Tiznow was very impressive in her last, having scored in the Grade II Distaff Mile at Churchill back on May 2.
