| | BELIEVE IN A. P. is a filly that appears to have a lot of upside. Tough trip between runners in last. Rallied gamely with room in the stretch while on the wrong lead. Loads of room to improve. FANCY POINT is a good sized filly that ran into significant trouble in debut. She is bred to improve with distance. Adds value. DOS LUNAS is the filly to beat. Her solid effort in last at Monmouth makes her the logical filly to beat.

Lauren Byrd is logical enough, but I would have a hard time separating her from Arch Support. The latter came back to win at Saratoga after losing by a nose to Lauren Byrd.
Rather than trying to chose between the above two favorites, I'd rather go for a bigger price. I'm currently looking at Fancy Point who ran well against Abide, an Asmussen filly with a future. In her debut, Fancy Point was soundly bumped at the start, was blocked, darted three paths to a very narrow opening on the rail, showed courage getting through and was out finished for the place due to an obvious loss of momentum. She has had three solid works at the Spa since that 8/1 debut at 6 furlongs. Two of the works were bullets. Fancy Point should like the lawn since there are strong turf performers/producers in her distaff pedigree. There are also significant stamina influences in her pedigree that should help on the stretch out. Fancy Point draws a good post position and gets a jock who has been red hot all meet. Her morning line is 12-1. Why not? |
