GLENWOOD CANYON turned in a monster race off the bench and had to settle for a heart wrenching second. He was 10 lenghts clear of the next runner. His race over the track will prove to be the difference. MASALA is part of a formidable entry. Returns to the races for Dutrow after a brief freshening. NATIONAL PRIDE returns for a claiming tag. Has run races in the past that would be more than good enough to beat this group. Big question is where his fitness will be at off such a layoff.
This is a pretty tough race consisting of horses who ran in pretty good races?.
National Pride
Tried the distance four times so far and while he was in the money three of them he failed to win at least once.
He is a front running type of runner. He is coming back after 176 days. He last running period lasted from October 31 2009 to March 7 2010. He seems to be a ?winter? horse although in the past he ran three times at the SPA with a 1-0-1 record. His trainer looks to be good with this type of layoffs although this particular runner showed at the past that he needs a couple of races to get in full shape. He is entered for a tag which is not necessary a good sign since in the past he was placed rather aggressively even in Grade 2 events.
Flying Private
Two times winner out of nineteen tries facing the easiest competition since long time.
Tried the distance two times so far with a 0-1 record. He is deep in his form cycle that started 183 days ago during which he raced 6 times with his only win in his first race of it. Since then he tried tougher with modest results?..
Glenwood Canyon
Runs infrequently and today is the first time since long time that he is coming back with a short layout. Front runner tries tougher?.
Masala
Early in his career he was campaigned aggressively facing high quality foes. Since then he did not have the expected evolution.
Ruffino
State bred against open company. He likes the distance and gets eligibility to the race due to the state restriction of several of his wins. Won a minor stakes against open company.
