THE NO-SHOW ZENYATTA RACE
In the eight horse Vanity Stakes, Hollywood Park has chosen not to include show betting. The threat of a gigantic minus pool is too great with the undefeated Zenyatta headlining the field. The John Shirreffs mare, who is ten for ten lifetime, looks like number eleven is hers for the taking. Will the bridgejumpers put their money into the place pool? Tune in for the fourth at Hollywood on Saturday.
Contrarians will try to find a hope or two that have a scintilla of a chance to defeat the great mare. The two with a semblance of a chance are Allicansayis Wow and Modification.
Modification is trained by Doug O’Neill. She ran decently in the nine furlong on the turf Grade 1 Gamely and before that closed well on the dirt at Churchill Downs in the seven furlong Humana Stakes on the Kentucky Derby Day undercard.
The most serious threat to Zenyatta is the Patrick Biancone trained Allicansayis Wow. She was only beaten by 2 ½ lengths by the undefeated one last time out in the Grade 2 Milady. This will be filly that Zenyatta will have to gun down late, so if she has any type of problem making her patented and beautiful late move, then Allicansayis Wow will be the beneficiary.
