Updated: May-29-2009 Created: May-29-2009
By Boomer Wry
A solid field of 11 older horses line up to sprint 6 furlongs in the Grade III Aristides Stakes at Churchill Downs on Saturday afternoon. The 7/2 morning line favorite is The Double Bogey Stable's Semaphore Man, fresh off a nice win in the Grade III Count Fleet Sprint Handicap at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas on April 10. Jesus Castanon takes over the mount for conditioner Kelly Von Hemel. At 4/1 on linemaker Mike Battaglia's morning line is The Savorthetimes Stable's Sok Sok, winner of The DF Kenner Stakes at The Fairgrounds in New Orleans back on March 14. Shaun Bridgmohan takes the return call for high percentage winning trainer Steve Asmussen. The red-hot Calvin Borel will ride Vicarian, who was a nice closing runner-up in optional 100k claiming company in his return to the races off a 6 month rest on May 10th.
