Calder Race Course December 19 Race 11
Updated: Dec-18-2009
Created: Dec-18-2009
Allowance 29,500n$y—5 ˝ Furlongs Dirt—F &M 3+

Of the 7 fillies and mares entered in this allowance race, 5 ran against each other in their last race on November 28th at Calder. In that event, #2 Labadeel set the pace but tired in the finals strides, yielding to the fast closing #6 Sailing Time. They cut back a half furlong today and you can count on Labadeel to set the pace once again.

#3 Orinoquia (6-1) really deserves a long look here. This four year-old makes her second start off the layoff. Broke last of all in that November 28th race losing all chances. Nunez sticks and probably had an opportunity to ride Sailing Time. Will be coming from off the pace but anything close to the 5/24 or 7/11 Calder performances puts this nice- priced filly in the winner’s circle. This a value play.

#2 Labadeel (8-5)) will set a moderate pace in this one with her only early challenger being #4 Browning. That one broke in a tangle and lost all chances at the start in the 11/28 race. With the shorter distance today and a rail position, Labadeel has a tremendous advantage today.

#6 Sail Time (5-2) will be sitting just off the pace behind the speed as she did in the 11/28 race. Tends to regress a bit second off the layoff but this 3 year-old continues to improve and there is no doubt she’ll be coming on fast late. Is 11 for 13 in the money at Calder and 5 for 5 in the dough at today’s distance.

#1 Saratoga Tango (7-1) First race under Marty Wolfson who is 38% with horses coming under his care for the first time. Should go off at a handsome price and does like the Calder surface. May need longer but training well and has been racing against tougher. #5 La Chica Sensual (4-1) will draw some dollars but the 1 year + layoff might make this one a poor play at a low price. She’s going to need this race. I do not see #4 Browning or #7 Bereba finishing on the board in this one.

Win-- #3 Orinoquia (6-1)

Place-- #2 Labadeel (8-5)

Show-- #6 Sail Time (5-2)

Recommended Wagers:

$20 Exacta: 3 with 2,6

$10 Exacta: 2,6 with 1,3
