CRC Oct-24 Race 12
For this Saturday’s race from Calder Race Course I have chosen a 5 furlong turf sprint. The race is number 12 on the program a 25K Optional Claiming affair for three year old and up non-winners of two. During the rainy summer season, scheduling turf races is an exercise in futility. However, we’ve recently had our first cold front of the fall, and the chance for rain has greatly diminished. An interesting aspect of this race is that while being scheduled for the turf, there are only 2 horses whose past performances show them to be committed turf runners. What makes it more interesting is that I don’t consider either horse to be a serious threat to win the race.
