Not A Lucky Draw Tonight For The Favorite
Updated: Apr-28-2010
Created: Apr-28-2010

There are many axioms and stats kept for the Derby and many of them revolve around post positions as they are pivotal in the Run For The Roses as to who can get that winning trip and execute a winning strategy. To put things into perspective for what it might mean to this years favorite Lookin At Lucky listen to the quotes from the "3" HRTV hosts of Pursuit Of The Crown in post position order: Laffit Pincay 3rd: As a Southern Cal native I think we should have an investigation into this years draw--HaHa! but not kidding..... Gary Stevens: The last time I was on the rail was with Johannesburg and it was a disaster Jeff Siegel: I wouldn't bet a nickel on the favorite now with that draw. In closing from the host Laffit Jr to the break--when we come back---We will be lookin at unlucky!!!! The problem is this--with the colts style he will have to be used from start to finish to maintain his position without getting shuffled on the turns and hope for the best from there. Bob Baffert tried to be tongue and cheek by saying that his wife Jill was more upset even then he was and if this was last year he would have had the 1st choice of post rather then being stuck in the worst. It has been 12 years since the connections had NO choice in the draw and had to go with the luck of the draw. Ironically enough, the 2nd choice on the line Sydneys Candy got perhaps the 2nd worst draw although not as devastating as the favorite-- thus now you understand the joke of the investigation being launched from California. As Baffert said, lets accentuate the positive now and that is perhaps an opportunity to get lobster payoffs on all the exotics and maybe even a win bet with the co-third choices being 10-1 going in. Of course, that is no help to the connections of Lucky as they simply want the roses and to cash the winners check of $1,425,200 if all 20 start. Side note--Big Brown won from the 20 post under Kent D. just 2 years ago so that is why it might not be so bad for Sydneys Candy. Hey---we have horses at 50-1 on the line that I think can be near by this year!!!!!!!! Watch for these jewels and many others to be unleashed EXCLUSIVELY on our Oaks/Derby Products that will be offered by Thursday Night. We don't have any positives from the last 2 workers today as Endorsement was injured in his work and will now need time off--and Homeboykris looked sharp but I don't think he has much shot at all of going a 1 1/4 mile distance.
