Summer Bird out of Birdstone is a born closer as is Mine that Bird. Therefore no shock at all. Can he beat R A the great filly. Possibly only of Munnings puts the screws to her throughout the race not just the 1st qtr, Munnings is really coming into his own and will be a great horse. Summer Bird is up against it in that Monmouth favors speed and the speed in RA and Munnings is just too strong and lasting for Summer Bird to do better than 3rd, He needs a mile and a half. He is a classic marathoner! |

For those few who had the insight to see that the other Bird ; Summer Bird was crying out for 12 furlongs, congrats. Shame there are not more races booked at 1 & a half miles. This horse just want to run on forever. When I saw him close for third behind Papa Clem in Ark Derby II, I knew he Belmont written all over his blaze. Calvin should have known better, but that 12 furlongs tricks even the best of them to move too early. Just to let the site users know that with me using their So. Cal winners card and their So. Cal workout reports, I have swept the So. Cal pick 6 twice during the past 13 months: May 25th for over $600K (Toby had listed Mandate Perfecta and Star Nicohlas as horses to consider and they both came in!! One @ $58.00 and the other @ $88.00. In October they touted Rumba Along (around 11-1) over a 4-5 horse
horse in the 1st leg, and I singled Rumba and the rest was history for $125k score.. and if your pk4 users; my favorite story of this astute team was late September when they said keep an eye on a horse trained by Gary Madella named Mobility who came in at huge odds (I believe 50-1), Alan Garcia was here to ride Regal Ransom in the Norfolk (I had Street Hero singled) and he also took the Mobility mount in the next race. I was fortunate to hit that pk4 two times for $76k.

Have been a huge fan of your workout analysis in SoCal for many years. For the few of you who don't know, he is a astute eye in workout patterns and his knowledge of trainers working up to big races.Being a horseowner himself, makes him uniquely qualified to notice the subtle changes that define a workout for exercise and a workout before a big effort. I too find Mr. Hot Stuff as a great value play in the race as both a fresh horse and one with improving form, infact when the others might not be moving in that direction. |

Thank you Toby. I have been going to the races since the early 1960's. My fathers idea of a family pinic was Santa Anita infield.I loved the races then and I still do. My point is I value your opion more than any other handicaper, Larry Zap runs a close second. Thank you for your effort

I enjoyed Toby's commnent's regarding the longshot possibility of Mr Hot Stuff for the Belmont. I subscribe to a racing magazine called American Turf. They have listed Mr Hot STUFF as their BEST BET of the Month. they have been known to select some great returns in big races. I'm also a fan of "Mind That Bird," but I too will be wagering on Mr Hot STUFF..
